"It could be said that the paintings of Claire Evans show us a world where absolutely nothing but the ordinary takes place. But perhaps this serves as a quiet reminder that in a world all but consumed by the glittering multimedia web of progress and conflicting technologies, it is only the ordinary that remains truly extraordinary." -- Jose Arquelles
I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. My formal training began at the Atlanta Art Institute and continued to college. After moving to Colorado years later, I resumed my studies at the University of Colorado and independent workshops.
In 1975, I established myself as a portrait painter in downtown Boulder, Colorado. While I still enjoy portraiture, I have greatly expanded my subject matter, painting everything in nature or man-made that interests me.
What I want to convey is my fascination with what I see, whether it's a face, an old bottle, or a construction site. Design and light are, of course, essential to my paintings.
A few of my paintings may be seen at www.guild.com.
